Bring us your volume
Lo Scrittoio began precisely as a bookbinding store, and we are still very attached to this branch of our work.
Over the years we have restored and bound volumes for important institutions, such as the National Library of Florence and the Oblate Library.
If you are interested in having one of your volumes bound or restored please contact us for information.

Restoration and binding types

We carry out the restoration of the pages of a volume through the use of a special paper (called pelure) or with Japanese restoration tape.
Bindings are made on loom, on webbing or with twine, using the ‘woven chain’ system.
We use various techniques:
• binding with full-stitch ‘Greek style’ stitching, on three strings
• ‘American-style’ stitching, carried out on single-sheet books
• ‘French’ stitching, with woven threads
• ‘Japanese-style’ stitching
